Advertising Interval Vulnerability in BLE

Advertisement interval is the time gap between two consecutive advertisements by a peripheral. Hackers use small advertisement intervals so that their spoofed device can connect to a master before the actual one. So, advertisement interval can be criteria for detecting hackers in the network. If a device is advertising very fast, then there is a possibility that someone is trying to hack into your network through a spoofed device.

On the other hand, if some actual devices are advertising very fast then it becomes difficult for the master or vulnerability detectors to identify the spoofed device. So, the advertising interval of peripherals should be kept large enough. Also, large advertising intervals help you to save power of your peripheral.

Wispero Patrol finds this vulnerability in your network and helps you take a pro-active action.
